Looking for a real FlexJobs review? Continue reading. I paid for the membership and I share my honest thoughts below.

When I first started looking for remote jobs in 2006, remote work was not the norm. The internet was littered with scams and unreliable information, and finding legal work from working from home online was like finding needles in a haystack. Many of the resources, tools and blogs available today were absent when I started my remote job hunt. Luckily, I started side gigs, freelance and eventually started this blog, and I pieced together a home-based career I worked for my family.

Fast forward to 2024 and there are so many legitimate resources and tools to help you find a remote job, but what I want to see in detail is FlexJobs.

What exactly is FlexJobs?

FlexJobs is a paid online job board that handles remote work and flexible work arrangements, including hybrid roles, freelance positions and part-time jobs. Each job posted to that website has been investigated and hand drawn to ensure its legitimacy. FlexJobs does all the groans of finding and investigating flexible jobs, so you’ll be charged a small subscription fee.

In addition to the job board with an extensive job category filter, paid users have access to the member-only learning centre.

  • Educational Webinar
  • Live Q&A session
  • LinkedIn Learning Video Course
  • Downloadable Guide
  • Job Search Checklist
  • Expert Skill Test

Is FlexJobs legal?

Yes, FlexJobs is 100% legal.

Sarah Sutton, who I enjoyed the interview, started FlexJobs in 2007. Like me, Sarah is passionate about helping others find a better way to work. Since its founding, FlexJobs has been hiring a team of 100 virtual workers and has been featured on media platforms such as GMA, CNN, Wall Street Journal and Forbes.

In January 2024, FlexJobs was acquired by Bold. Bold also owns other carrier brands such as Livecareer, Zety, My Perfect Resume and Mighty Recruiter.

Bold is a certified business from the Better Business Bureau, which has an A+ rating. FlexJobs gets a 4.6 star rating (out of 5) on SiteJabber.

How much does FlexJobs cost?

FlexJobs allows you to sign up at different times. In longer terms, it offers deeper discounts.

  • 14 Day Trial – $2.95 (automatically updated to monthly price)
  • Monthly Plan – $23.95
  • Annual Plan – $71.40

The good thing about FlexJobs is that they have a money back guarantee. If for any reason you are not satisfied with their services, you can request a full refund within the first 14 days of your membership. Membership can be terminated via email, online or by phone.

Is FlexJobs worth paying?

I have paid membership for membership over the years, but I love using the platform to use research companies and taking advantage of all the resources I offer. But like the rest, FlexJobs has its advantages and disadvantages, allowing you to make an informed decision as to whether this is a suitable tool for remote job hunting.

The Benefits of FlexJobs

Save time and money

The biggest reason I love FlexJobs is that they do all the foot work for you! They will find and investigate all the positions on their website so that you can find all the legitimate remote jobs in one place. And you don’t have to worry about becoming a victim of fraud. Because they reviewed each position to ensure it was legal. These two aspects can save you time and money in the long run.

Advanced job hunting options

Unlike mainstream job boards with millions of lists, FlexJobs focuses solely on flexible work arrangements, making it easy to find what you’re looking for with advanced search options like:

  • keyword
  • position
  • Work arrangement
  • Job Type
  • post
  • schedule
  • Career Categories
  • Career level
  • Complimentary of the company
  • education
  • I’ll be happy to travel

Advanced search options allow you to narrow down your search to find the best location for your situation. This feature alone saves a lot of time by removing many job postings that don’t meet your specific needs.

Automate job hunting

I’m all about saving time. Using FlexJobs, you can perform advanced searches to save your settings. In addition to accessing these saved settings in your dashboard, FlexJobs will also send email alerts when new openings that meet the criteria are available.

We all know how quickly remote vacancies fill. With this feature, it becomes one of the first applied and is more likely to work from home earlier.

Career Development

Join FlexJobs to gain access to a wide range of specialized development tools, including:

  • Live Q&A session
  • LinkedIn Learning Video Course
  • Downloadable Guide
  • Job Search Checklist
  • Expert Skill Test

These tools, along with the job board, will help you provide the extra boost you need to move forward in your job search.

Easily organize your job hunting

With FlexJobs you can manage all your job searches in one place! View and manage saved searches and jobs, track recruitment applications, set reminders, build resume profiles, and automatically match jobs that meet criteria.

No ads

FlexJobs makes money from subscriber and employer fees, so its website is ad-free. This means less confusion and allows you to focus directly on the task at hand to search for new jobs.

Cons of FlexJobs

You have to pay it

The biggest drawback for most people is that they have to pay to participate. Some people even feel that it’s a scam because they think they’re paying for the job.

At FlexJobs, you don’t pay for the job. They pay for services that find and screen to work from home for legitimacy. This service saves you time and gives you peace of mind. Can I find these jobs myself on the web? of course. But you have to write a script that finds a job and then makes sure the company is actually legal.

Mainly professional work

FlexJobs allows you to search for positions by skill level, but most entry-level job lists require 1-2 years of experience. If you’re just starting your career journey, you probably won’t find many newbie positions on their site. FlexJobs tend to be best suited to professionals with degrees and professional experience.

It’s not guaranteed you will do your job

With FlexJobs, remote job search can give you a boost, but using it doesn’t guarantee you will find or land a job in your dream work from home. But there are thousands of success stories from people like you who have started working from home using the platform.

Here are some exciting success stories:

Jean B. – hired as a coding specialist by Ciox Health

“I applied for over 130 jobs online (on other sites). I honestly didn’t succeed despite considering related experience, certification courses and national certification exams. I only applied for around 10-12 jobs at FlexJobs. The best resource for flexible jobs.

Rachel B. – hired as a staff accountant at Clevertech

“Your site is great. You helped me with the changes I really needed to make and you made it so easy! I am so grateful! I am so grateful! I have really identified FlexJobs as a single mom of three who worked full time.

Where can I get the FlexJobs promo code?

FlexJobs no longer offers discounted pricing due to a new pricing model with a $2.95 probationary period. However, sometimes Rakuten offers a cashback bonus when you sign up for a FlexJobs membership. If you’re not familiar with Rakuten, be sure to check out my reviews here. It’s definitely worth signing up and it’s free!

FlexJobs review wrap up

If you’re a professional with previous experience or advanced degrees, FlexJobs is likely to help you with your remote job hunting.

Let’s face it: looking for a traditional job is stressful enough! Putting in the virtual side and the overly abundant work in home scams makes you even more nervous. So, why don’t you use FlexJobs if it can give you competitive edge, save you time and provide you with peace of mind?
