Are you looking for work from home packaging job? Next, be sure to read this post. This will help you protect yourself from shade opportunities.
There’s no shortage of easy and flexible ways to make money from home. But are these opportunities and jobs legal? One type of remote job you may hear frequently is packing, sending, or assembly operations.
Working from home is generally sold as a position that pays you to assemble the product using envelope fillings and kits. If you don’t think this is too good, it’s because it often is.
Here’s what you need to know about home packing jobs, how they become scams, and what to do instead.
1. Envelope filling
Work from home envelope filling jobs is advertised with headlines like this:
Make $5,000 a week by stuffing envelopes from your home!
or
You will receive a fee for postage of letters from your home
These jobs usually don’t pack any envelope stuffing at all. Instead, you will need to transfer money as a startup fee to get more information. The job then is to repost scam ads packed with the same envelope on other websites to recruit more people.
Unfortunately, this is a common scam that has many people fallen down. Fortunately, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Better Business Bureau both have warnings on their websites about this illegal work opportunity.
Companies packing new envelopes pop up every year, but there have been no positive reports from those who have signed up yet. When you think about it, it really doesn’t make sense to stuff an envelope in the extra cash. Many companies are trying to process packaging internally and continue to protect mailing information from customers and prospects. The odds of a company outsource this simple task are small for everyone.
2. Shipping and sending of packages
Sending a package is another common task from a home scam to be careful. The scammer will send illegally acquired items either with a stolen credit card or a stolen entirely stolen, and will provide instructions on where to send these packages. Compensation is usually listed as a fixed price per package. However, there are individual Reddit accounts who fell into this scam and thought they would make $2,200 a week and $40 per package.
Once you apply for these gigs, the scammer will send you job details and packages. Without you knowing, you will mail the package to your intended destination, but you will not receive payment for the service. Therefore, we will lose out-of-pocket shipping costs and assist in the transportation of stolen goods.
According to the US Postal Inspection Service, work from these types of home packing (fraud) is common and tricky. Stolen packages often go back to people who thought they were doing legal work from home gigs. After that, if you try to get payment, the fake company will not reach you. Or they claim that the package was not delivered to get out of workers’ payments.
3. Assembly Job
Another similar job from the at-home packing job that was supposed to raise the red flag is assembly work. Work from home assembly jobs includes workers who prepay startup materials and kit fees. The kit includes items and orientations that need to be assembled.
The tricky part is that no matter how well you put it together, if it’s sent back to the company, the company won’t pay you. There is always a problem with how to organize items together. The process itself is often very time-consuming. Some workers noted that they spent more than 30 minutes assembling one bracelet. What these illegal companies essentially do is not going to pay for the assembled product, they make money from every startup kit they sell.
4. Mailing letter to companies
You’ve probably heard of the US on Tiktok about this side of the US. This is not a complete scam, but it’s not a clever way to spend time making money.
First, there is how it works.
According to match day, online casinos must legally provide a way for players to receive free sweep coins, and do this through an offer via email. As a consumer, you can request free casino play coins (usually between $5-10) by visiting these online gambling sites and handwriting a letter with very specific details.
To get started, you will need to purchase an envelope, #10 size, and stamp (currently $0.73). Next, you need to spend time handing out these letters and sending them out. Once you receive your credit (not cash), you need to use it to play the highly addictive online casino games.
How much money can you really make?
Let’s say you receive a $5 casino credit and then cash out after spinning a slot machine several times. The envelope, stamp, and note cards have already lost $0.80. For example, playing $1.50 for an hour is another $1.50. So you could have spent your time making $2.70. Now, to earn $1,000 a week, you need to send an average of 370 characters each week.
Some people may bet money online, but be authentic. Casinos are doing business to make money. According to Investopedia, “Each game you play at a casino has a statistical probability for winning.
Also, many people who promote this as a lucrative side gig will lose more money to buy the course as they tend to sell online courses that teach you how to make money this way. It’s best to skip this and focus on the opportunity to waste time that you’re not fascinated with spending more money to make it bigger or hope to win a jackpot!
How to avoid work from home packaging scams
Work from home scams is common, but it’s not impossible to find. In fact, there are a few clues and red flags that can warn you of illegal work from home. Keep these things in mind when considering remote work opportunities. This way you can avoid wasting unnecessary time and money ahead of time.
Advertisement claiming you can earn a fair amount quickly
People who fell to work from a home packing job scam were told they would earn $1,500 a week. This sounds a little too good and untrue. If Jobs promises a lot of money to complete simple tasks like a massive amount of money to pack and mail packages, you need to ask yourself why or how you can afford to pay someone to do these things.
Ambiguous job description
It is important to know what the task involves when reading job ads. If language dances around the main purpose of the job and how to actually make money, it is probably not worth pursuing.
No website or bad reviews
Try to avoid job ads that don’t take you to legitimate websites. Even if a company has a website that looks professional, search online for reviews about them to see if it’s a legitimate opportunity.
Pre-startup costs
Usually you don’t have to pay anything to get started. This can also be a job from my hometown. If someone asks you to pay you or buy a startup kit, this could be a red flag. Some legal companies have fees such as checking criminal history. Read this article for more information on fees and what is legal and what is legal.
You need to recruit others
Unlike multi-level marketing business opportunities where people can sell their products in addition to recruiting others to join the team, envelope stuffing scams don’t offer anything like this. The only way to make money is to recruit others for the same scam and make this job completely illegal. Yes, some jobs allow you to recruit others and earn fees, but this should not be the only way to make money.
