Stock Market Holidays in 2025

Stock market holidays are non-business days in the week when two major U.S. stock exchanges, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ were closed that day. These days, they often follow the federal holiday schedule closely and include major holidays such as Independence Day and Thanksgiving.

Both exchanges have normal opening hours Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 4pm, but there are various ways to trade stocks 24 hours a day. The market is not open on weekends.

If the holiday falls over the weekend, the stock market will close on Friday before the holiday. Public holidays are also observed on Mondays after the holidays occur.

As investors welcome the upcoming start of the summer vacation season, which begins with Memorial Day, we present an updated holiday calendar for the stock and bond markets.
